This talk looks at balance in a non-traditional way and explores interactively, and with the help of some tools, what being in and out of balance might look like. It also presents some ideas for moving towards balance. In our professional and personal lives we are constantly making trade-offs. We make small ones like what events to attend, who to talk to, what foods to eat; and larger ones like what job to pursue, what projects to take on, what communities or organizations to join, and where to take up a leadership role. The need to rebalance is sometimes uncomfortably forced on us by external circumstances like a company merger, a project shutting down, a personal health challenge, or the death of a family member. Sometimes the need to rebalance comes from your own insights, or the lessons you or your team have learned by working together. Balance is much more than just time management. While time management is important, it only accounts for how your time is spent. It doesn't speak to the more important issue of what you are doing with that time and where it is taking you.

Leadership is about effectively moving towards something you want for yourself, your team, the world or your family, and shifting resources to make that happen. Leadership is about change. All women are natural leaders in some part of their lives, and sometimes in many parts. Each individual woman’s leadership style is as unique as the individual and her situation. Women in general have an inherently different approach to leadership, and your individual approach can help or hinder you. Leadership, as a skill, can be developed and strengthened, but must be grounded in reality (what “is”) and analysis (what is “needed”). This session is intended to spark thoughts and new ideas about women’s leadership in general, and as it applies to you. Come learn what top speakers and various researchers on women and leadership have to say. Discover qualities of some top women leaders in the world that you may also have! Explore your leadership qualities by using a tool to measure leadership style, and in fun and interactive discussion!

Using the right models can add scope and depth to your written materials, presentations, and coaching. Models are powerful tools organizing chaos and confusion into ideas and thoughts that resonate with the viewer. For the more visual learner, models can provide the concrete anchor and structure needed to complete the circuit for how they learn and understand.
This talk will interactively explore models and the benefits of models. We will create a sample model from a real life case study and view several others from a wide variety of systems, such as sales success, women and leadership, job cycle, decision-making and a successful coaching business. These models can be used for you or your clients. Several tools will be introduced to help you create your own model.
